As a leading supplier of impact extruded aluminum parts, JLO Metal Products, Inc. specializes in serving customers in demanding industries. In the medical industry, we have worked closely with various medical device manufacturers to develop specialized canisters used in both portable and in-home oxygen concentrator units. Our strong partnership with each of these manufacturers has enabled us to develop and provide custom designed aluminum canisters for our customers' successive generations of oxygen concentrator designs. For new projects, we typically provide turnaround times of 10-12 weeks for the first article samples. Once approved, the initial production release will follow in 4-6 weeks.

In-house capabilities include complete design and fabrication of all required tooling. This is an important cost factor for medical applications, as it helps to keep cost low and production schedules on track. We provide medical canisters in a wide range of aluminum alloys, with features such as:

  • A star-shaped design on the ID base of the canister to keep the contents of the column elevated and to maintain a designated air gap
  • A non-standard CNC-machined thread pitch on the open end of the canister that mates with the thread on an existing plastic injection molded cap
  • Tight tolerance valve stems on the bottom of the column that offer a leak-proof connection to an airflow tube fitted with an O-ring seal
  • A unique cross-sectional geometry that minimizes the canister's footprint and significantly reduces the weight of the canister

All of the aluminum impact extrusions that we manufacture for the medical industry are cut to length and trimmed on horizontal impact extrusion presses and trimmers. If specific features of a canister require secondary machining, our facility is fully equipped to provide precision CNC turning and CNC milling. Typical oxygen concentrator columns range from 1.700"OD to 3.500"OD with wall thicknesses beginning at 0.035". At JLO Metal Products, we manufacture lengths of up to 12" in a single hit, with greater lengths available as needed. To simplify subsequent manufacturing processes, all parts are subject to a cleaning in a 10% solution acid wash, then inspected per print specifications, packaged, and shipped to the customer.

At JLO Metal Products, we are in full compliance with all ISO 9001:2008, ISO/TS 16949:2009, and ITAR requirements and standards, and can provide adherence to any other applicable industry standard. In addition to these quality measures, we also have a highly developed and robust internal quality program. This includes standard testing and inspection of all raw materials at all process steps, and a final inspection completed before shipping. If a customer requires addition specification verification, we can provide CMM measurements and SPC protocols upon request.
